Let your mind travel to 19th century Paris as AmiciMusic, the award-winning chamber music organization, brings classical compositions from the likes of Debussy, Stravinsky and Franck to several cozy venues. From Friday, October 14, to Sunday, October 16, cellist Franklin Keel and pianist Daniel Weiser will make their way through Asheville.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, AmiciMusic will perform at the Isis Restaurant and Music Hall. The venue provides an intimate setting with food and drinks available; reservations are encouraged. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, the All Souls Episcopal Cathedral in Biltmore Village will host the performers. At 7 p.m. on Saturday evening the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hendersonville will host AmiciMusic as they perform a portion of their “Bach to Bluegrass” series. The group will round out the weekend on Sunday at 2 p.m. with a performance at 19 Cats Whisker Court in Biltmore Lake. Biltmore Wine Club will feature a variety of wines and food for guests.

AmiciMusic breaks up its performances with casual conversations with the crowd. “All of our concerts are really about community and the need we all share for live music with no barriers,” says Weiser. “I talk at each concert to give audiences some landmarks to listen for and share interesting stories about the composers at the time they wrote the piece we are performing, which may affect the way that people listen to and understand the music.”
Since 2011, the group has performed at more than 200 concerts, bringing jazz and folk elements to their classical style. Weiser believes in the symbiosis created between performer and audience and knows the value it has on the experience.
“We take the stuffiness and elitism out of the music and just let people experience the sheer joy and beauty,” says Weiser. “Anyone who just wants to be moved by a musical experience and feel the excitement up close will love one of AmiciMusic’s concerts.”
