The Asheville Symphony Chorus Celebrates 25 Years of Song
The Asheville Symphony Chorus (ASC) shares its joy of singing together for 25 years by offering a retrospective of the choral works. The concert, From Bach to Bernstein: Our 25th Anniversary Celebration, will be held at Arden Presbyterian Church, 2215 Hendersonville Road, on Saturday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m.
“The concert is a celebration of an important milestone,” says Sandra Tompkins, vice president of ASC, “and the music reflects this celebratory quality. I think the audience will enjoy hearing [some] music which is very familiar and exhilarating, while other selections are quiet and more reflective.”
Along with the Anniversary Celebration, ASC presents its second annual Handel’s Messiah: A Community Sing-Along at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, at First Presbyterian Church on 40 Church Street, Asheville. Those wishing to participate should arrive at 6:30 p.m. Whether joining to sing in this holiday classic or choosing to listen to the soaring sound of more than 150 voices, attendees are sure to have a great time.
“In order to support our growth and continue bringing the highest level of choral music to Asheville,” says Ron Hershberger, ASC president, “we are asking for your participation and collaboration in our goals: greater reach and renown, higher levels of excellence and more delight and joy for our audiences.”
Tickets for the Anniversary Celebration are $22 for adults; $15 for youth. The Sing-Along is $15. Purchase tickets at ashevillesymphonychorus.com.
