Arts for Life session with Troy, age 10
For the month of September, Grovewood Gallery and its sister shop, Gallery of the Mountains, will both donate one percent of all sales for the month to the Asheville Chapter of Arts For Life (AFL), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting pediatric patients and families through arts education and engagement. “Like Arts For Life, we believe art has the power to enrich people’s lives and nurture their minds and spirits,” says Ashley Van Matre, marketing manager for Grovewood Village. The two galleries hope to donate enough for three months’ worth of art and music supplies—about $1,500.
“As a small, North Carolina-based nonprofit, we depend on our community support to ensure we can provide services and bring creativity into the hospitals for kids and families,” says Katharine Phlegar Broughton, executive director of AFL.
The funds raised by Grovewood will be used to support AFL’s programs at Mission Children’s Hospital locations. “Our expert program staff and incredible volunteer team bring high-quality art materials into the hospital to ensure the best experience for kids and teens—and that’s only possible with funding support from individuals and groups like Grovewood,” says Broughton.
Grovewood Village is located at 111 Grovewood Road, adjacent to and below the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville. Gallery of the Mountains is located inside the Grove Park Inn. Gallery hours are Monday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free parking is available onsite. To learn more, visit Grovewood.com or call 828.214.7768.
