Through Tuesday, June 29, Woolworth Walk presents The Cheryl Keefer Exhibit in the FW Gallery. A native of Black Mountain and a contemporary impressionist painter, Keefer holds degrees in art education and art history from The University of Alabama, Birmingham, and has completed graduate work in painting at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Keefer considered the generous window space at the gallery when choosing works for the show, which will range from 8 inches square to 36 inches square. This exhibit will be a collection of her newest oil and acrylic paintings, as well as some of her favorite giclée prints. “I feel endlessly challenged to capture on canvas the moods and emotions of the real world, and the events of the pandemic year have greatly affected me and my work,” she says. “I have spent more time alone in nature than in previous periods and have become, I think, more sensitive and more observing of nature in her tremendous quietness, as well as in her grandeur. I am thrilled to be able to offer this collection at a time when we are, each one of us and all of us, in the turmoil of a new beginning.”
