Built in 1901 as a meatpacking plant, 375 Depot Street was once a collection of small separate rooms rented as studios. Today, after a lot of love and renovation, the building houses Trackside Studios and multiple businesses.
Managed by three friends—Lynn Stanley who specializes in Asian brush painting, wire sculptor Julie Ann Bell and acrylics artist Michael Allen Campbell—Trackside Studios is a unique space in which artists can work and display their art. The gallery currently showcases five exhibiting artists and 15 working artists who paint, sculpt and create jewelry, fiber art and stained glass works.
“We take pride in supporting emerging artists,” Bell says. “By sharing spaces, we keep rent as manageable as possible and create a supportive, fun environment.”
On Friday, November 11, the studio will host a reception for new artists and the unveiling of their new mural. They will also participate in the River Arts District Studio Stroll, November 12–13 and “December on Depot,” Saturday, December 10.
Trackside Studios is located at 375 Depot Street. For more information call 828.545.2904, email tracksidestudios375@gmail.com or visit tracksidestudios375.com.
