Everyone is invited to a weekend celebrating compassionate living at the second annual Asheville VeganFest. Hosted by Brother Wolf Animal Rescue (BWAR), this event—part educational presentation, part festival—takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 11–12. It’s free and open to the public.

Speakers from around the country will cover a range of topics on Saturday at the YMI Cultural Center, 39 S. Market Street in downtown Asheville. In each of the three themed blocks, three guests will give 20-minute presentations, followed by a moderated panel discussion. Themes include “Vegan Nutrition for Peak Sports Performance” at 10 A.M., “A Humane Debate on ‘Humane Meat’” at 2 P.M., and “Science and Spirituality on the Vegan Evolution” at 6:30 P.M. Meet the speakers at a preparty hosted by the Asheville Vegan Outreach on Friday, June 10, at 7 P.M. at The Block Off Biltmore, 39 South Market Street.

Head to Pack Square Park on Sunday for a festival with more than a hundred vendors, featuring vegan food, beer, lifestyle products, and more. Hours are 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. At the speaker’s tent, presentations begin at noon and take place on the hour until 3 P.M.

Please leave your furry friends at home. There will be a few adoptable dogs from BWAR. For more information, visit veganfest.bwar.org.
