The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. If you encounter difficulties submitting an event, please email [email protected].

2025 CCA Summit: Faith-Based Organizing & Theological Action in the Wake of Helene near Asheville, NC 5/17

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, faith communities across our region stepped up to provide comfort, aid, and support. Now, it’s time to harness our collective love and power to not only heal but build a stronger, more resilient future. This one-day grassroots organizing summit will equip faith leaders, activists, and community members with essential skills for movement building and theological action.
What to Expect:
Learn the fundamentals of organizing, movement building, and qualitative leadership in today’s context.
Explore how faith-based networks can amplify impact and create lasting change.
Engage in hands-on workshops to develop tools for collaborative efforts and theological action.
Facilitators:
Dr. Timothy Conder & Dr. Dan Rhodes – The Black Mountain School of Theology and Community
With over 30 years of grassroots organizing experience and decades of ministerial, academic, and community research, Conder and Rhodes will guide participants in building a people-powered movement for justice, sustainability, and the protection of our shared spaces.

**Please join us for coffee and snacks at 8:30 am (Breakfast is NOT included). Lunch IS included in the cost of the ticket. Please indicate any dietary restrictions when you register.
