Three composers paint a vivid portrait of rugged Caledonia: Scottish composer Aileen Sweeney’s Glisk captures moments of fleeting light breaking through ever-present clouds, Bruch’s spirited fantasy for violin reshapes traditional folk melodies, and Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony brings the dramatic shorelines, ruined castles, and vibrant culture of Scotland to life.
