The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Billy Jonas – “Bridging Divides” Album Release Concert

Longtime Asheville resident Billy Jonas invites you to “peruse the perimeters of possibility” with the heartfelt, humorous, healing, and eminently human songs from his new album Bridging Divides. Many of the pieces were commissioned during and around the pandemic. “These songs are an acoustic apothecary,” says Billy, “Their purpose is healing. They are love letters to all those seekers and soul spelunkers yearning to sing their way through tumultuous times.”
Billy Jonas has taken his unique blend of voice, guitar, and “industrial re-percussion” — instruments made from found, foraged, and recyclable materials — all over the world since 1987. Beloved for his ability to connect with audiences of all ages, Billy has garnered multiple awards, been featured in the New York Times, and been invited to perform at the White House.
A versatile performer who presents a variety of shows for both adults and youth, Billy has prepared a special show to celebrate the release of Bridging Divides, which he’ll present in the intimate setting of AyurPrana Listening Room in West Asheville. This 16-and-up evening will feature Billy alongside special guests River Guerguerian, Chris Rosser, E’Lon JD, Ashley Jo Farmer, Juan Holladay, Bill Melanson, David LaMotte, Sherman Hoover, members of the CBHT Choir, and more.
