Call for Proposals: BMCA Theatre 2026–2027 Season

February 24 @ 8:00 am - March 20 @ 12:00 pm

Free

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts invites directors, producers, playwrights, and theatre companies to submit proposals for the 2026–2027 BMCA Theatre season.
BMCA Theatre is an intimate, 80-seat performance space dedicated to bold storytelling, creative risk-taking, and meaningful community connection. We welcome proposals for original works and established plays that are innovative, inclusive, and engaging for Western North Carolina audiences.

As part of the Black Mountain Center for the Arts—a nonprofit community arts organization that has supported local creativity for over 25 years—BMCA Theatre offers producing groups extensive support, including ticketing, front-of-house operations, marketing and press outreach, technical orientation, and shared box office revenue.

We are especially interested in projects that:
Highlight diverse or underrepresented voices
Foster community partnerships
Make inventive use of an intimate performance space
Offer fresh perspectives or reimaginings of classic works

Productions are scheduled throughout the season from September 2026 through May 2027, with multiple performance slots available.

Proposal Deadline: Friday, March 20, 2026 at 12:00 PM (noon)

Artists and companies are encouraged to bring their most compelling ideas to a theatre that values collaboration, accessibility, and artistic growth.
