The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. CAMP: Triple Threat: Advanced Performance Intensive – July 20-24

✨ Elements of the Stage Master Class – Advanced Performance Intensive for Serious Performers (ages 12-18) ✨
✨This is deep-dive performance intensive is designed for serious young actors ready to push beyond the basics and explore the full spectrum of stagecraft. Campers will train with industry professionals in combat, improv, choreography, and vocal technique while honing their character development and scene work for richer, more nuanced performances.
Campers will:
Learn stage combat skills and then write a scene where conflict occurs and is resolved with stage combat
Learn elements of improv to think fast, stay present, and make bold choices—skills that instantly strengthen scripted scene work.
Learn 32 bars of choreography from various dance styles to build versatility, coordination, and confidence
Learn stylized vocal techniques for a wide range of genre mastery. Examples include opera, A Capella, jazz, cabaret and more
Dive into character development and scene study to teach performers how to analyze a script, uncover character motivations, and make intentional acting choices that bring stories to life.
Industry professionals will lead each area of focus on a given evening.

🎬 No end-of-the-week Showcase because the focus here is on learning and the process, not the end result
💲 Price: $325; increases to $345 on April 1
This Master class performance intensive is for focused and dedicated performers looking to broaden their acting, singing and dancing skills and gain vital tools for more advanced and nuanced performances.
