The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. ✨ WITCHES OF OZ: FOR GOOD Summer Camp (ages 8–16) ✨
Follow the yellow brick road into a magical week of music, movement, and storytelling — inspired by the hit 2026 movie sequel in the beloved land of Oz! Campers step into the roles of witches, wizards, and Ozians while learning the power of friendship, courage, and finding their voice onstage. Every day builds skills in singing, character work, choreography, ensemble acting, and live performance — all leading to a Friday showcase that will leave families spellbound.
*FOR THOSE NOT INTERESTED IN BEING ON STAGE BUT INSTEAD LEARNING TECHNICAL ELEMENTS LIKE LIGHTS, SOUND, STAGE MANAGING, SCENIC DESIGN, THIS CAMP IS ALSO FOR YOU!!
Campers will:
Learn songs and sing together as a group
Act out iconic scenes and explore character-driven storytelling
Build stage confidence through theater games and partner acting
Learn musical theater choreography and staging
Every day includes craft time creating props, scenic elements for the Friday showcase, or camp souvenirs
Perform for family and friends in a Friday Showcase
Techies in this camp will learn the technical elements such as lighting, sound, stage management and scenic design necessary to create magic on stage
👉 Ages: 8–16
🗓 Dates: June 22-26
🕘 Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
🎬 Showcase: Friday afternoon at 3:30pm
📈 Price: $355; price increases to $375 on April 1
