The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Clarinet and Piano Recital
August 9 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free, with donations encouraged.
Two Asheville natives, now international classical music soloists, return to their hometown to give two concerts on August 9th and 10th. Clarinetist Aaron Lipsky and Pianist Christopher Tavernier will perform music by Debussy, Brahms, and Clara and Robert Schumann. Lipsky is an Artist Diploma student at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he just returned from soloing in the Czech Republic. Tavernier is a Master’s student at the Eastman School of Music in New York, who recently performed solo concerts on the Amalfi Coast in Italy.
Both concerts are free with donations encouraged.
The concert on August 9th will be at 1pm at the home of Daniel Angerstein and Jerry Schultz. Light food and drink included at intermission! To RSVP, email @aaronlipskyclarinet@gmail.com
The concert on August 10th will be at 3pm at St. Giles Chapel at Deerfield Retirement Community.
