The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Every Friday Modelface Comedy brings you the best comedians from all over the country. This week we have local favorite Aaron Naylor!
Aaron Naylor is a Chicago-based comedian from Kansas City. In 2013, he performed at his first open mic at Laff’s Comedy Caffe after moving to Tucson, AZ for some reason.
Shortly after, he moved back to Kansas City and won the 2014 Local Comic Standing competition. He quickly became a Midwest favorite, placing 2nd in the 2016 Cleveland Comedy Festival, winning the 2017 Funniest Person in Wichita, and was featured on season 8 of Comcast’s Trial by Laughter.
Aaron has performed at some of the best comedy festivals in the country, including San Francisco Sketchfest, Limestone, Asheville, and 10,000 Laughs. He has also shared the stage with comedians like Todd Barry, Sam Tallent, and Ron Funches. His comedy has been featured on Comcast, Comedy Juice, and the whole entire internet.
In 2021, Aaron was named the Funniest Person in Kansas City by KC Magazine, while also co-founding the Fountain City Comedy Festival. In 2023, he released a book called “Things I Wrote” to acclaim, he thinks, and shot his first comedy special “Born Illiterate” with Four by Three Productions. He tours across the country regularly, so if you’ve got some hugs, please give him some.
