Composting 101
September 23 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
$25
Join co-hosts Carmen & Sarah of Seeds of Solidarity to learn the ins and outs of composting and how to turn food scraps into healthy soil! Beginning with a short presentation, participants will learn why composting matters, what’s happening inside a compost pile, and a variety of composting methods including traditional piles, tumblers, bokashi, and worm bins. Next participants will get hands-on with real compost samples and learn how to balance “greens” and “browns” to create healthy compost as well as how to identify unfinished, finished, and anaerobic compost. Finally participants will take an optional tour of the Seeds of Solidarity greenhouse and learn about plans for their future composting system.
