The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Creative Writing Workshop

Do you have a story you want to write, but aren’t sure how to start? Then this workshop is for you! By using interactive questions and answers, along with a series of short exercises, you will learn how to get your story from thought to paper.
This workshop takes place on two consecutive Saturdays in August (the 24th and the 31st) from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm each day. The first Saturday’s workshop will focus on defining creative writing and storytelling. Each participant will spend the next week writing in the bluebook that will be provided. The second workshop will give each participant the opportunity to read their story, get feedback, and personal assistance from the instructor, Lora Hawn – short story writer, storyteller and aspiring novelist.
