The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Echoes Across the Smokies: A Night of Strings, Stories, and Songs

Step into a night of mountain magic with Echoes Across the Smokies: A Night of Strings, Stories, and Songs. Presented by WCU’s Bardo Arts Center and Mountain Heritage Center, this soulful celebration brings the Smokies to life through the spirited tunes of the Junior Appalachian Musicians, the captivating stories of Cherokee storyteller Kathi Littlejohn, and the harmonies of the Cherokee Language Repertory Choir. Headlining the evening with the powerful voice of Grammy-nominated artist Amythyst Kiah, whose music bridges tradition and modern roots. Let the music, memory, and language of the mountains carry you home.

Run of Show:
– 6:30 – 7:15 PM in the Bardo Arts Center Lobby – Junior Appalachian Musicians of Jackson County and Blue Ridge
– 7:00 – 7:30 PM in the BAC Performance Hall – Sylva Old Time Jam Band
– 7:30 PM, The ticketed performance begins in the BAC Performance Hall with openers: Kathi Littlejohn and the Cherokee Language Repertory Choir, with Amythyst Kiah (and band) headlining the night.

Doors will open to the performance 30 min before the show is set to start. The WCU Fine Art Museum and BAC Concessions will be open one hour prior to the show.
