Embrace Your Shadow & Light: 5Rhythms® Movement and Expressive Arts Workshop!

December 15 @ 11:00 am - 6:00 pm

$5

The invitation for this workshop is to discover and uncover the polarities of Shadow and Light Maps created by Gabrielle Roth through movement and Art Expression!

Shadow has a way of showing up in unexpected places and ways. We sometimes feel our heaviness, tension, confusion, distraction, and being numb in our bodies at different times in our lives. In addition, Shadow reveals a part of ourselves that we may want to disown, not accept, or feel uncomfortable.

However, moving through our light offers us a way to be more accepting of our Shadow in being Fluid, beat oriented, letting go, feeling our lightness and listening to what will arrive next. We begin to have and feel compassion for all of our different sides of ourselves. In moving the Shadow and Light, we become aware of our humanness! Having authentic expression in our daily lives can be healing. Shadow is our gravy of essential importance in moving the polarities and finding balance in our lives and bodies!

How is Shadow and Light of service to us to find healing in being
authentic and accept parts of ourselves that we may want to disown?

About Ella:
Ella Raphëlle Dufrene is a French-Haitian-American visual artist and art therapist. Ella believes that art is our most primitive style of communication and expression, dating back to our earliest forms of art making in prehistoric cave paintings. Driven by the instinctual knowledge of the innate and powerful healing powers of art, Ella received her Masters in Art Therapy & Creativity Development from the Pratt Institute in 2015.
Currently, Ella is based out of Asheville, NC where she works as an art therapist in private practice. She has experience working with people on the autism spectrum, at risk youth, children and adults with special needs and developmental delays, drug/alcohol addiction, psychiatric rehabilitation, eating disorders, as well as adults and children in both individual and group settings. Ella emphasizes a holistic approach to wellness and utilizes a playful ‘person first’ approach to therapy.
Ella has worked with people who felt disconnected from their happiness and uninspired by the pressures of life. Through the magic and science of art therapy, she’s seen them transform into happier, more curious, more satisfied versions of themselves.
All of those that know and work with Ella can feel her passion for the healing properties of nature, art, travel and movement. She approaches her day to day and work-life with a zest for life, a youthful spirit and a contagiously open mind.

Sound Healing: On Sun. Dec.15th, Erika Bear Banwell Sound Healer, who holds space at Haw Creek Commons in Asheville, NC will take us on a Sound Bath journey to relax and soothe our bodies before we go home for the evening!

Cancellation Policy:
I will give a full refund minus $40 administrative fee all the way until the first week of the workshop. During the first week of the workshop there will be no refund unless it is an emergency!

This workshop will be 1.0 days of Wave credit for the workshop and 0.5 credit Elective for students on the Dancing path.

Ella and I look forward to moving and expressing through art to embrace your Shadow and Light!
