ENCOUNTERS WITH CREATIVES – HOLLAND VAN GORES, WOOD & MIXED MEDIA ARTIST
July 18 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free
(FREE) Meet and watch Holland Van Gores apply milk paint to his incredible wooden sculptures.
Holland has spent the better part of his life working with wood. As a child, he had access to his father’s workshop and was able to use the tools and supplies. Learning these skills early in life, led him to choose a career in construction where he honed his skills in California before taking on construction work in remote Costa Rica and eventually the United States Virgin Islands. Holland and his family relocated to western North Carolina in 2012 where he built a studio surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest. He is constantly experimenting with forms and textures, often inspired by organic themes. “Making something with my hands allows me to feel a connection to that piece, giving it a purpose.”
