The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. First Pulls: Works of Butcher Shop Press

Butcher Shop Press begins its creative journey by presenting its first group exhibition, ‘First Pulls: Works of Butcher Shop Press’, on display from March 25 through April 4 with a silent auction of artwork donated by artist Phil Garrett. All proceeds will go to Butcher Shop Press to raise funds for additional studio equipment.
Butcher Shop Press is an art-based initiative housed in a space at the back of Studio 116 where a butcher shop once operated in the early 1900s. Today, the space has been transformed into a working print studio dedicated to exploring the craft and possibilities of printmaking.
Each hand-pulled print in this exhibit was created using the studio’s Takach etching press, generously donated by artist Marty Whaley Adams. The works highlight a range of approaches to printmaking and reflect the creativity of local artists exploring the unique processes of monotype and other print techniques.
