The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. HERBalachia’s Hands-On Herbal Training Program Returns for 2025!

HERBalachia is excited to announce its in-person, hands-on herbal studies program for 2025. This immersive course offers students an authentic, nature-based herbal education led by experienced professionals. Students will engage in herb walks, medicine making, and ethical harvesting practices while learning about local plant species.

Key Highlights:
*84 Hours of Herbal Learning: Study 25 local herbs, practical uses, and the Materia Medica.
*Herbal Energetics: Experience plants in their natural habitat to understand their energy and properties.
*Hands-On Medicine Making: Take home herbal tinctures, salves, syrups, and more.
*Traditional Herbalism: Explore various herbal traditions including Chinese, Ayurvedic, and Native American.
*Botany & Plant Identification: Learn safe herbal use and plant taxonomy.
*Wildcrafting & Stewardship: Focus on ethical harvesting and plant protection.

Classes are held on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 5th through October. The program will be at Blackberry Blossom Campground in Unicoi, TN.

April 5-6, May 3-4, June 7-8, July 12-13, August 2-3, September 13-14, October 4-5.
