The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Just Economics is thrilled to announce the 14 year anniversary return of its annual home brewers competition and fundraising event, Just Brew It. Set to take place on June 1st, at Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, Just Brew It promises an afternoon of exceptional craft beer, community camaraderie, and support for Just Economics’ impactful initiatives.
Just Brew It has become a staple event around Asheville, fondly known as “beer city” for its vibrant brewery scene. However, beyond the hops and malts, this event holds a deeper significance. Just Economics focuses on crucial issues like living wages, affordable housing—a hugely significant topic of local conversation, and public transit access, making Just Brew It not just a celebration of beer but a platform for positive change.
What makes Just Brew It stand out? Attendees consistently rave about the surprising creativity and quality of the brews, showcasing the unparalleled artistry and experimentation of homebrewers. The economic reality is that commercial brewers can’t afford to be as experimental or exotic in their ingredients as homebrewers who enjoy the luxury of embracing a more artisan approach to the brewing craft. With over 50 unique beers created by 20+ talented individuals, from classic IPAs to innovative concoctions featuring coffee, chocolate, spices, and fruit, there’s something to delight every beer enthusiast’s palate.
