The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Kanuga presents “Gather & Ground: A Restorative Retreat”—a weekend designed to help attendees pause, breathe, and reconnect with self, Fri.–Sun. Aug. 21–23 at Kanuga in Hendersonville, N.C. The all-inclusive weekend mini-retreat includes lodging and meals, a one-on-one EMDR therapy session, a nourishing facial, guided reflection in nature, and time to rest and reset the nervous system.
Led by EMDR-certified therapist Anne Sheppard, licensed esthetician Caroline Schultz, and spiritual director Aimée Bostwick, attendees are invited to rest, reset and respond with self-care. The weekend includes a nourishing facial, soothing skin and spirit alike; a 30-minute Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) session with a licensed therapist; and guided reflection and introspection in nature. Registration also includes lodging and meals. This is an opportunity to slow down, feel supported and remember what it feels like to stand on solid ground again.
