The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Launch Event of ‘Trans Kids, Our Kids’ Book by Asheville-Based Authors Dates:

FreePlease join us for the kick-off event in Asheville, North Carolina for the TRANS KIDS, OUR KIDS book tour! *Trans Kids, Our Kids: Stories and Resources from the Frontlines of the Movement for Transgender Youth* is a new book that takes readers inside the movement for transgender youth, told through narratives that will open your eyes, break your heart, and give you hope. The book is co-written by team members from the Asheville-based Campaign for Southern Equality, a leader in the work to protect trans youth and their families across the South and, through the Trans Youth Emergency Project, nationwide. This launch event in Asheville, hosted at Citizen Vinyl in partnership with Malaprop’s Bookstore, will include a reading from TRANS KIDS, OUR KIDS; a panel discussion that includes co-authors Alexis Stratton, Adam Polaski, and Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, cover designer Liz Williams, and team members from the Campaign for Southern Equality; a Q&A focused on how you can take action; and a book signing. And stick around afterward for a reception with light refreshments and a cash bar.
