The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Every Thursday Modelface Comedy Club brings the best local and touring comedians to Asheville! This week we have Florida favorite Matt Fernandez on the rooftop at Antidote!
Matt Fernandez’s approach to comedy comes off as detached and nonchalant. Originally from Tampa, Matt has opened for some of the biggest names in comedy (Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr, and Dave Chappelle to name a few). Not only has he written articles for College Humor and Playboy. He’s also a 2nd City alum, and has been featured on Sirius XM Radio. He’s a regular guest on Doug Loves Movies and was named one of the 15 funniest comedians you should be following on Twitter by funnyordie.com. His tweets have also been featured on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Today Show. Matt has a one hour special; Why Does Everyone Hate My Mirror? on Amazon and a half-hour special Clownfish on Youtube. Add to that performances at the Funny or Die Oddball Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival, and Skank Fest. It all adds up to a fascinating brand of irreverent comedy.
