The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. The Housing Authority of the City of Asheville, in partnership with Helpmate and Our Voice, will host Safe at Home: Understanding Domestic Violence, Housing, and Hope on Thursday, July 30, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Maple Crest Community Room, 20 Lee Garden Lane, Asheville. The free community panel will explore the connection between domestic violence and housing stability, featuring local advocates, housing leaders, and individuals with lived experience. Panelists will also share practical guidance and local resources for people experiencing abuse, as well as for friends, family members, and neighbors who want to help someone they are concerned about. An audience question-and-answer session will follow. The event is open to Housing Authority residents, community partners, service providers, and members of the public.
