The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. The next Spirited Improv Series begins January 13, 2026 and you’re invited.
This is not traditional improvisation.
Imagine Spirited Improv as a spiritual practice, where creativity meets consciousness and community.
It’s part expressive arts and part heart-opening growth. Spirited Improv offers a warm, playful space to move, dance, sing, act, and experiment without judgment.
These experiences invite you to trust the unknown, shed old fears, and show up more fully as yourself.
The series culminates in a one-of-a-kind Spirited Improv Performance: a spontaneous, soul-guided experience where participants step onstage (only if they choose to) to celebrate everyone’s unique expression, including the audience members.
Past participants often describe Spirited Improv as “life-changing,” “freeing,” and “a place where I finally felt fully myself.”
