The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. The Acting Company presents August Wilson’s Two Trains Running

This powerful Pulitzer Prize finalist, a masterpiece from acclaimed playwright August Wilson, paints a profound portrait of history through everyday life amid the civil rights movement. While the owner of a Pittsburgh diner fights with the city over the fate of his building, his long-time regulars grapple with love, money and a changing world. See the sixth installment of Wilson’s trailblazing “American Century Cycle,” which chronicles the 20th century African American experience one decade and play at a time. Contains adult content. 

Content warnings:

-Contains mature content, including the discussion of political violence, war, references to self-harm, profanity, and the use of a prop cigarette
-Racially charged language and the use of the n-word (appropriate to the period and authentic to the experiences of the characters portrayed)
-Onstage prop weapon (object is incapable of firing) and loud noises
