The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. The Fritz presents: Fritz Side of the Moon:
Asheville-based funk band The Fritz brings their unique blend of groove-heavy originals and psychedelic rock energy to the stage with Fritz Side of the Moon — a full performance of Pink Floyd’s legendary Dark Side of the Moon album.
The night kicks off with a set of original tunes, showcasing the band’s signature mix of funk, soul, and improvisation. Then, they dive into Dark Side in its entirety, reinterpreted through The Fritz’s creative lens and paired with a psychedelic visual experience at Third Room in Asheville, NC on September 5th 9pm.

The Fritz is a soul-driven psychedelic funk band hailing from Asheville, NC.
The group’s aggressive approach to funk, soul, and rock creates a sound that is uniquely their own. Their high-energy, danceable songs provide a platform for each member to shine. With powerful vocals, climactic solos, and tight grooves, The Fritz has built a devoted following and is captivating audiences everywhere.
The newest lineup features Datrian Johnson on lead vocals, who has propelled the group to new heights. Many may know Datrian from his work with legendary organist John Medeski’s Saint Disruption. Datrian is a force, and the immediate chemistry with songwriter/music director/guitarist Jamie Hendrickson and drummer Michael Tillis is clear. The group also welcomes funk machine Thomson Knowles, as well as long-time Fritz collaborator, Matt Schueler.
