Waynesville Hosts Annual Chili Cook-Off Stroll

Downtown Waynesville will host its annual Chili Cook-Off Stroll Saturday, February 15, from Noon to 5 p.m. throughout the downtown area and Frog Level. The event is sponsored by the Waynesville Rotary Club.

The cook-off allows locals and visitors alike to explore Waynesville’s many shops and galleries while sampling and voting for the best chili in town. A $10 wristband allows for unlimited chili samples and a vote for the People’s Choice Award. Wristbands also include unlimited rides on the shuttle service, courtesy of Cold Mountain Tubing. Shuttles will loop between Downtown Waynesville and Frog Level every 15 minutes.

Half of the proceeds from wristband sales will support local children in need through the Rotary Club of Waynesville. In addition to the People’s Choice Award, a panel of judges will crown the Best Merchant Chili and Best Restaurant Chili.

The Chili Cook-off Stroll will feature a roaming chili mascot, custom T-shirts, special “Chili Packages” for the holiday weekend from local bed and breakfasts Andon Reid and The Yellow House, along with sales and specials throughout downtown.
