Hoedown Benefit in Fletcher

Old-Time Hoedown to Benefit National MS Society

Pull on your cowboy boots and button up your flannel shirt, it’s time for a hoedown. On Sunday, September 11, from 3–7 p.m., Blue Ghost Brewing Company in Fletcher will serve as the new venue for Annie Garic’s annual fundraising event to benefit The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. “In 2005, we started having benefits for the Hurricane Katrina disaster. In 2009, we shifted our efforts to The National MS Society. It just feels good contributing and having fun at the same time. People want to give,” says Annie, who co-organizes the event with a planning committee and group of volunteers. Ticket proceeds and ten percent of sales from food provided by Circle B Ranch BBQ and beverage will support efforts of The National MS Society.

This year’s event has an old-time country western hoedown theme. “Peggy Ratutz always puts together the best talent the area has to offer,” adds Annie. Music will pay tribute to legends in the genre and the lineup includes nearly 20 performers. Hoping to learn some new moves? Annie says, “There will also be a short swing dance lesson right when the doors open.”

Blue Ghost Brewing is located at 125 Underwood Road in Fletcher. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for teens, and $5 for kids ages 12 and under. For more information, contact Annie Garic at 504.723.3911.
