Mountain Song Productions announces the inaugural Songsmith Gathering, held on the Brevard Music Center campus on Saturday, April 21. The event features a full day of performances by singer-songwriters in a range of genres including rock, country, folk and blues.
“I want to share with the community all of the great songwriters—some wellknown and so many that are undiscovered—that are out there writing songs that enact an emotional or visceral response,” says Mountain Song Productions coowner John Felty.
The lineup includes a mix of established artists who have been covered by many popular performers as well as several songwriters who are emerging on the larger scene. The critically acclaimed Wood Brothers, four-time Grammy nominee Darrell Scott, Indie Award-winner Greg Brown and Sarah Siskind, whose songs have been covered by Alison Krauss, Bon Iver and Randy Travis, are among the 12 acts on the roster.
“It’s an eclectic mix of artists and styles, but the focus is on having an experience with the song,” says Felty. “I hope that music fans will take the opportunity to engage with all of these songwriters and discover something new.”
Performances will take place in staggered sets on the Main Stage and the Lakeside Stage. Food trucks will offer a variety of local fare for sale and beer and wine will also be available for purchase.
Brevard Music Center is at 349 Andante Lane, Brevard. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $50 for covered auditorium seating, $35 for lawn. Children under 12 are admitted free to the lawn with a paid adult. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, visit songsmithgathering.com.
