After 27 years at 16 College Street, the Asheville Gallery of Art (AGA) has moved to a larger, more contemporary space across from Pritchard Park.
“The gallery opened in 1988 and continues to be a cooperative gallery. All the members are greatly needed and appreciated in the day-to-day operations of running the business,” says Sandra Russell Anton, artist and president of AGA. “It is a privilege to be a member, have the opportunity to display my work and meet such wonderful fellow artists.”
Originally from Michigan, Anton moved to Asheville in 2006. She creates bright, colorful oil paint compositions with an architectural theme. “I have recently added musicians to my work,” Anton says, “to create a vibe that expresses my love of music.”
The longest established fine art gallery in downtown, AGA hosts a reception on the first Friday of every month for its Artist of the Month.
