Experience Music Band Showcase Set For November 9 at Pisgah Brewing
On Wednesday, November 9, at 6 p.m. Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain will host five youth bands in collaboration with the Experience Music program. The bands include local acts Breaking Point, The Shocks, The Weirdos, The Cloud Crashers and The Mustaches.
“This will be the fourth semester of the Musician Mentoring Program, which gives kids a unique opportunity to play alongside local musicians,” says Chuck Lee, co-founder of Experience Music. “The local bands that are part of the program join the kids during their rehearsals throughout the semester. At the end of the semester—in this case at the Pisgah Brewery show—the professional band will play a set and then join some of the kids on stage for the songs they have been working on.”
The local band Window Cat, a neo-soul group with jazz influences, is part of the Experience Music Musician Mentoring Program and will be performing alongside the bands. The program offers young musicians a creative space to develop their talents and gain valuable insight from older musicians.
This will be the first show of the school year and, according to Lee, is an exciting experience for all involved. “The Pisgah show has a tradition of boosting confidence and stage presence in young musicians,” he says.
Founded with the goal of fostering a creative learning environment, the Experience Music program offers private lessons and weekly band rehearsals year-round in a fully equipped studio in North Asheville.
Pisgah Brewery is located at 150 Eastside Drive in Black Mountain. The event is free for guests, and donations are accepted to benefit Experience Music. For more information visit experiencemusicavl.com.
