Works by Joye Ardyn Durham at Carolina Mountain Sales
Continuing an exhibit that began in October, Carolina Mountain Sales Real Estate in Asheville’s Historic Biltmore Village features photographer Joye Ardyn Durham in its first Autumn Artist Exhibition. The show culminates in an artist reception on Friday, December 2, from 4:30–7 p.m., which coincides with the Biltmore Village holiday tree lighting.
An award-winning landscape and nature photographer, Durham owns the Gingko Tree Gallery in Black Mountain. She is a regular contributor to The Laurel.
“When I am out shooting—whether it be a sunrise, a newborn baby or a family gathering—I lose all sense of past and future. I am there in the moment.”
Carolina Mountain Sales’ managing director Allyson Etheridge is excited about the company’s initiative to host exhibits on a regular basis. “Our location in Biltmore Village is an ideal venue to allow our buyers and sellers exposure and access to regularly rotating exhibitions that feature distinctive local artists,” she says. Durham will donate 20 percent of her sales to Homeward Bound, a local nonprofit and partner of Carolina Mountain Sales dedicated to ending homelessness.
“When you are a photographer, you are also a weather person. You watch the weather conditions as if they were an old friend coming to visit,” says Durham. “You make sure your equipment is ready. You get up at 4 in the morning. You travel, sometimes hours, to that special destination. And then, there it is! The light that carries with it new opportunities to create.”
Carolina Mountain Sales is located at 10 Brook Street, Suite 235, in Asheville’s Historic Biltmore Village. Works in the exhibit are for sale. For more information, contact tracy@carolinamountainsales or call 828.277.5551.
