Grovewood Gallery is hosting a three-day benefit for The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design on April 22–24. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. CCCD (craftcreativitydesign.org) is a nonprofit organization working to further the field of craft.
Proceeds from this event will help support free public programming at Benchspace Gallery & Workshop, CCCD’s exhibition space at 67 Broadway in downtown Asheville.
During this benefit weekend, visitors can save ten percent on all ceramic art, enter a free raffle for a “Made in WNC” prize package, and meet Brent Skidmore who will be demonstrating some of his carving and textural techniques from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday.
Brent is an assistant professor of art and director of Craft Studies at UNC Asheville, and is a former board member of the CCCD (2007–2015). Founded in 1996, CCCD fosters new ideas, funds craft scholarships (grants total more than $250,000 annually), and provides support for the next generation of makers, curators, and critics.
Over the years, the organization has earned a national reputation among artists, museums, academic researchers, university students, and arts organizations.
Grovewood Gallery is located at 111 Grovewood Road, adjacent to the Omni Grove Park Inn. For more information, visit grovewood.com or call 828.253.7651. Free parking for gallery patrons is available on the Grovewood grounds.
