River Arts District (RAD) artists will open their doors for the annual Studio Stroll on Saturday, November 12, and Sunday, November 13. This much anticipated fall weekend gives locals and tourists a chance to see what new works artists have created and to purchase art for holiday gift-giving.

Artist Leslie Rowland will be in her Riverview Station gallery (Suite 101) on both Stroll days showing original contemporary work, including new paintings from her pollinator story and binary code mantra series. “I love the fall Studio Stroll because it heralds the beginning of autumn and is the last influx of visitors to our area before the quiet winter season,” she says. “Fall visitors are a wonderful group; they are gallery stroll-oriented and are here to appreciate our beautiful mountains in all their colorful radiance.” Also at Riverview Station Frederic Payet, known for his bold, impressionistic works, will open his studio from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

At Wedge Studios, Elise Okrend will demonstrate her technique for creating atmospheric pastels from 12–4 p.m. “I provide visitors to my studio an experience of being taken away to a soothing and tranquil place with my dreamy pastels while they witness my process of creating them,” Okrend says.

Painter Cheryl Keefer invites visitors to her gallery at Warehouse Studios (#3) where new windows have been installed that let in more light to show off artwork. “I am happily preparing to display new collections of landscapes and city scenes at the Studio Stroll this year,” says Keefer. This time of year, she adds, she “always looks forward to meeting new people and visiting with friends.”

Deborah Anderson, of Ahdra Art, whose creations includes assemblage sculpture and digital photography art, will have new mannequin work on display at Marquee and at her Trackside Studios space.

At Mark Bettis Studio & Gallery, Samantha Edmiston also looks forward to talking to visitors who stop by to see new work by her and the gallery’s other artists. “It’s always an exciting time when the leaves are changing and winter is in the air,” she says.
