Throughout the month of December, Asheville Gallery of Art (AGA) will feature All Squared Away, a show that highlights the original small works of 21 member artists. Representing a wide variety of themes and media, each piece will be limited to an 18-inch square or less. All works are for sale and a public reception will be held on Friday, December 2, from 5–8 p.m. with the opportunity to interact personally with the artists.

“I typically create larger ‘statement-piece’ art, so it is great fun and a welcome challenge to scale down a new piece to a smaller square canvas,” says Sally Lordeon, a recent addition to the gallery artists as of November. Lordeon as well as most of the artists will provide pieces made especially for this annual show.

The gallery stands behind the impact of small works, and hopes to draw in the community with the accessibility and affordability of this distinct local art event. This show gives the artists an imaginative construct to work in while creating distinctive and accessible pieces.

“This year my artwork titled Timeless is a signature style, a ‘mysterious landscape,’ using acrylic with sand from Egypt given to me as a gift,” says Reda Kay, another member of AGA. “It has a lot of meaning for me personally, and uses my favorite colors.”

Among the longest-standing art galleries in Asheville, AGA operates as a co-op that allows its members the opportunity to showcase their art as well as participate and hold stock in the business. This show particularly exhibits the range of artwork the gallery has to offer. Works from all member artists will also be on display throughout the month.

Asheville Gallery of Art is located at 82 Patton Avenue in downtown Asheville. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 A.M. to 6 P.M. and Sundays from 1–4 P.M. For more information call 828.251.5796, visit the gallery website at ashevillegallery-of-art.com or find them on Facebook.
