Grace Carol Bomer
Grace Carol Bomer—owner of Soli Deo Gloria Studio / Grace C. Bomer Fine Art—loves to bring the invisible to light. Working in oil and cold wax, Bomer often adds collage, text and image, charcoal, gold and silver leaf to her paintings.
“My work is about process and discovering metaphor and mystery,” Bomer says. “It is not really abstract. I call it ‘incarnational.’”
Originally from Alberta, Canada, Bomer moved to Asheville in 1981 and since has maintained a studio, first in her home, then in the River Arts District for nine years.
With a background in teaching sixth-grade art and French, she established herself as a painter and studied toward an art degree at UNC Asheville.
“My art was never only a job,” Bomer says. “It was also a calling.”
She recently moved to her new location at the Warehouse Studios. Bomer offers weekly talks Wednesdays from 9–11 a.m. and will begin teaching workshops in January.
Bomer’s studio is located at the Warehouse Studios #6, 170 Lyman Street and will participate in the RAD Studio Stroll, November 12–13. For more information call 828.545.2451 or visit gracecarolbomer.com.

Carol. Are you ok after the flood? I am worried about you and Norm?
