Born in Vietnam, Thang Chu moved with his family to Los Angeles when he was nine years old. “My parents started a nail business in California,” he says. “When I was 13, we moved to Asheville and brought the family business with us.”
Thang took over his parents’ nail salon three years ago. “I love my job because I know our clients by first name,” he says. “I grew up watching my parents run the business, and I now know it so well. I love listening to our clients’ needs and recommending services, but I also love that I have a lot of freedom,” Thang says. “I can travel, control my schedule and take the time to really enjoy serving other people and making them happy, which is my real intent.”
