Camden’s Coffee House, in Mars Hill, boasts a story rooted in family, community and connection. The shop opened in 2018 as The Library Coffee House and was renamed to honor Dave and Shari Bohager’s son Camden, who was running the shop at the time of his death in 2020. Today, the family of co-owners includes Camden’s sister, Alex; Dave’s sister, Mary Hametz; and his brother-in-law, Phillip Evans. Mary has taken an active role in day-to-day operations, guiding the coffee shop into its next chapter while honoring its family-centered spirit.
“We strive to make the shop as welcoming as possible,” says Dave. “Come in, relax, sit a while, bring some friends and make some new ones.” During monthly First Friday events, the shop hosts live music from 6–8 p.m., and an open mic is held every Wednesday from 7–9 p.m. This fall’s seasonal specials include the legendary PumpCAM Pie Latte and CAMpus Cider, a favorite among Mars Hill University students.
