Asheville Salt Cave owner Jodie Appel, originally from the New Jersey seaside, settled in the mountains of Western North Carolina 13 years ago. “My father greatly benefited from visiting a salt cave 12 years ago,” says Appel. “He is a long-time asthma and allergy sufferer and had a punctured lung from an accident. After researching salt therapy, it felt like the next right step in helping others on their healing journey.”
Asheville Salt Cave is inspired by the Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland. “People live down there in the mines for months to heal from all sorts of ailments,” says Appel.
She loves creating transformative spaces that can be a catalyst for others on their wellness journeys. “It fills my heart to see people benefit in so many ways after walking through our doors,” she says.
