Shop Talk: Crux & Kiln

Molly-Kate Garner, left, and Jennifer Garner

Ten years ago Molly-Kate Garner, co-owner of a new Polish pottery and Catholic-themed homewares store in Waynesville, gave her mother a unique gift. “My mother is difficult to shop for,” she says, “but I knew I’d found something special.”

Molly-Kate’s mother, Jennifer Garner, loved the decorative stoneware mug her daughter gave her so much that she became a collector. Over the next decade, Jennifer’s passion for the traditional handmade craft grew and, this summer, the mother/daughter duo decided to share their love of Polish pottery and their Catholic faith with others. Crux & Kiln opened its doors in July, offering a diverse collection of colorful and useful ceramic wares.

“In a world of Amazon and mass production, we love that our pottery was touched by the human hand,” says Molly-Kate.

Crux & Kiln is located at 11 North Main Street in Waynesville. For more information, visit CruxandKiln.com.
