José Gonzalez and Gabriel Muñoz originally met in junior high school but reconnected as adults and have been together for more than 25 years. “Before retail, I was executive vice president of sales and marketing for a real estate developer and Gabriel was director of medical contracting for a nationwide psychiatric care insurance company,” says José.
Between 2015 and 2018, the couple owned three stores in Waynesville before finally launching J Gabriel in Cashiers, where they have now been for five years. Recently, when they saw an opportunity to re-open in Waynesville, they jumped on it. Though the newest location is only two months old, the couple is pleased with its early success.
“We have developed incredible relationships throughout the years,” says Gabriel. “Our customers have become friends and now they are like family.”
