Shop Talk: Sweeten Creek Antiques & Collectibles

Veronica Kattermann

In September, Sweeten Creek Antiques & Collectibles will celebrate 20 years serving Asheville in its location at the edge of Biltmore Village. Owner Veronica Kattermann is an Asheville native and returned to her hometown after graduating from UNC-Greensboro.

“I grew up immersed in the world of antiquing and thrifting,” she says. “It’s more than a business to me—it is a deeply rooted way of life. I believe antiquing is the original green industry. Long before sustainability became a trend, those of us who cherished the past were already honoring it by giving items a second, third or even fourth life.”

Honoring the origins and past lives of the objects she sells ranks foremost in Kattermann’s mind. “Opening this shop was never just about selling antiques—it was about creating a space where history breathes, where stories live on and where people of all generations can reconnect with the beauty of craftsmanship and memory,” she says.

Sweeten Creek Antiques & Collectibles is located at 115 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, 12–5:30 p.m. Learn more at SweetenCreekAntiques.net, or on Instagram and Facebook @SweetenCreekAntiques.
