The Aging Resources of WNC Expo, presented by Ardenwoods Retirement Community, takes place Thursday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Mall in Hendersonville. Those who are planning for their own futures, caring for aging family members or searching for trusted community resources are invited to this free community event that brings together local organizations, healthcare professionals, senior service providers and community experts.
“Navigating the landscape of aging and caregiving can feel overwhelming, but events like the Aging Resources of WNC Expo bring the community together to illuminate the path forward,” says Jennifer Jacobs, Medicare manager at Council on Aging of Buncombe County. “The goal is to foster direct connections between families, caregivers and essential local organizations—such as the vital Medicare assistance provided by the SHIIP office at the Buncombe County Council on Aging, which proudly serves residents in neighboring Henderson County.”
Partners for the Expo include Aging Resources Magazine, Mountain Aging Partners, Land of Sky Regional Council’s Area Agency on Aging, Council on Aging of Buncombe County and Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). Attendees may explore a wide range of services and resources related to healthy aging, caregiving, healthcare, housing, financial planning, wellness and other facets of aging. Through conversations with exhibitors and local experts, visitors to the Expo will be able to ask questions, gain practical information and learn more about programs available throughout Western North Carolina.
“The Aging Resources Expo is an important opportunity to connect older adults, caregivers and families with the services and support available throughout our community,” says LeeAnne Tucker, director of Area Agency on Aging. “As our population ages, it becomes increasingly important that people know where to turn for information, assistance and resources that help them remain healthy, independent and engaged. This event brings together organizations from across the region in one convenient location, allowing attendees to discover programs and services they may not even know exist. The Expo serves as a gateway to the many resources available to help older adults thrive.”
Navigating with confidence is important to the decision-making that comes with aging. “By bringing trusted community resources together in one place, the Expo makes it easier for people to learn about available options, ask questions and build connections before a crisis occurs,” says Elizabeth Williams, executive director of Mountain Aging Partners, who adds that Mountain Aging Partners is proud to support the collaborative effort the Expo provides in informing, educating and supporting the community.
