Over the decades since its inception, “A Dickens Christmas” has become a seasonal tradition in Asheville’s historic Biltmore Village, a popular shopping and event destination for locals and visitors alike. This year’s celebration begins on Friday evening, December 2, with a 6 p.m. stage presentation, visits with Santa, community sing-alongs and fun giveaways in the Village Green, as well as strolling entertainers and shops open late throughout the Village with its fairytale-like setting of old-world architecture and thousands of tiny white lights.
The following day, Saturday, December 3, will feature strolling acts, horse-drawn carriage rides, authentic “chestnuts roasted over an open fire” and all the festive magic and holiday spirit that the beautiful, historic Biltmore Village offers at this time of year. In addition, visitors will experience extraordinary shopping and renowned dining—quite simply, a wonderful and memorable way to start the holiday season.
“I’ve been involved with ‘Dickens’ since we put it together in the early ‘90s,” says Joey Moore, who has coordinated the festival in collaboration with the City of Asheville, the Arts Council, the Village Merchants Association and now the Biltmore Property Group. “It’s still a charming, holiday season favorite.”
