November Lineup at Altamont Theatre Includes Jane Roman Pitt
November promises to be an exciting month at Asheville’s Altamont Theatre, rated one of the region’s best live music venues. The lineup includes a special benefit concert by Jane Roman Pitt to help a young boy as well as a visit from country rock troubadour Jonathan Edwards.
But first, on Thursday, November 3, at 8 p.m. the Altamont Theatre will host an evening with Callaghan and Jimmy Landry. Nashville-based Callaghan plays piano and guitar and blends country, rock and folk styles together for a mesmerizing and eclectic performance. Callaghan has toured with artists like Shawn Mullins and has headlined shows across the nation. Black Mountain musician Jimmy Landry joins Callaghan, offering his folk rock and country vocals. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.
Country rock troubadour Jonathan Edwards will take the Altamont Theatre stage on Friday, November 4, at 8 p.m. This show celebrates Edwards’ latest album Tomorrow’s Child, a timeless collection with support from the likes of Alison Krauss and Vince Gill. Edwards has four decades of music under his belt and has traveled and played for audiences across the nation.
“I felt from the very first time I visited this region decades ago that this part of North Carolina would hold a special place in my heart,” says Edwards. “The Asheville area has been friendly to me and my music ever since. I am so glad to be coming back to see my friends and fans at the Altamont!”
Since 1971, Edwards has released 15 albums and continues to bring his soulful tunes to fans nationwide. He has opened for acts including the Allman Brothers Band and B.B. King. A country rock cowboy with no plan to settle, Edwards has churned out music in Nashville and has immersed himself in the California country rock scene over the years. He continues to travel and create new music and will be sure to stir the crowd with his country rock ballads. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day of show.
On Sunday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m. the Altamont Theatre will host a fundraiser themed Songs from the Heart in support of 11-year-old Jaron Rosser, who is on the waiting list for a heart transplant. Songstress Jane Roman Pitt will present an evening of lullabies alongside a collective of local musicians. Roman Pitt will be releasing her new album, Road to Dreamland: Unexpected Lullabies for All Ages, which blends classic songs with her unique style. All proceeds from the evening concert and accompanying CD sales will go straight to Jaron Rosser and his family in support of his treatment and recovery.
“Jaron’s dad Chris Rosser was the genius behind this musical project—producer, pianist and engineer,” says Jane Roman Pitt. “For some reason, I had been stalling on doing a release concert for this new album until I heard about Jaron’s critical health situation. Suddenly it seemed that there was a good reason to ask people to come together to celebrate friendship, childhood and music.”

Pitt’s new album is meant to nurture relaxation among children and adults alike. “The songs are written mostly by well known contemporary songwriters, like Neil Young, the Gershwins and Johnny Mercer,” says Roman Pitt. “Although the arrangements are new, the songs are familiar and appealing to adults as well as children.” Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 day of show.
The Altamont Theatre is located at 18 Church Street in downtown Asheville. For more information visit thealtamonttheatre.com.
