Southern Highland Craft Guild presents The Graduating Class of 2026 from Haywood Community College’s (HCC) Professional Crafts Program in a new exhibition at the Folk Art Center. The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 9, and runs through August 19 in the upstairs Main Gallery.
This spring, Asheville Salt Cave will host two installments of Golden Hour Yoga + Salt Cave as well as a Full Moon Sound Journey. During the Full Moon Sound Journey on Saturday, May 2, at 6 p.m., Latoya Salter will guide participants through meditation, intention-setting and sound healing.
Opening on Friday, May 1, and on view through Sunday, May 31, The Golden Hours: New Works by Kathleen Stern showcases a collection of oil paintings that reflect both the artist’s lived experiences and her evolving relationship with the natural world. An opening reception will take place on May 1 from 5–7:30 p.m.

While a freshman at Western Carolina University in the spring of 1973, Ken Wheeler had resigned himself to the fact that he was about to be drafted, and didn’t sign up for fall classes. Two weeks later, the draft ended and he had to choose from among the handful of classes not already filled.
On Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2, at 7 p.m., the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts presents Stewart/Owen Dance + Guests in the Diana Wortham Theatre. Resident artists Gavin Stewart and Vanessa Owen, who comprise Stewart/Owen Dance, will host Eric Mullis and New Dialect.
