Join us for some magic this “Noche Peruana-Latinx” at Citizen Vinyl featuring the eclectic sounds of M A R & The Marmeladies and their vibrant fusion of South American Indie-Folk, featuring the incredible Billy Litz, Madelyn Ilana’s sounds, and the amazing taste of Vegan Peruvian Food by Limaq.
This will be a celebration of latinx sounds and flavors while highlighting the unique voices of queer local artists on this fun and unique night. Come ready to dance and have a great time!
The spirited 4-piece band is rooted in the rich tapestry of Latin American Folk and ventures beyond boundaries of genres adding a touch of quirky bluesy indie and Latin flair over bilingual lyrics. Hailing originally from Peru and based in the US, M A R, the lead singer of the Marmeladies is a trans/non-binary songwriter, musician and producer. He started the band along with multi-instrumentalist Andy John on bass, harmonica, cello, slide guitar, and whatever other instrument he’d pull from his closet. Zack Downes plays the Latin American rhythms on the drums keeping an indie feel, along with their newest member Madelyn Ilana on violin and vocals, who just joined the band! M A R, Andy and Madelyn are also teachers at the Asheville Music School.
Joining M A R & The Marmeladies on stage and adding some brassy vibes on trumpet will be guest artist Billy Litz, frontman of the NC-based band Hustle Souls. Contributing to the diverse musical landscape of the night, Madelyn Ilana will be kicking off the evening with some of her soulful ambient dream-folk songs .
And there is more! To top it all off adding to this celebration Citizen Vinyl’s kitchen will have a fiesta featuring the exquisite Vegan Peruvian cuisine pop-up by Limaq.
